8 October 1905 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 8th [October 1905]. We went to morning service & Bee sang in the choir, which was led by Lady Radnor. Sr Malagola took her in the Lido in the afternoon. I had a visit from Mrs Craigie (John Oliver Hobbs) who has just arrived from Patras where she had left the “Surprise” on its way back from Constantinople. The weather was so bad, the yacht so uncomfortable & the food so bad that she was glad to come away by the ordinary coasting steamers. She said she was hurrying home in order to start early in Novr for America & asked whether Bee would go to dine with her at Hotel Danieli wh I promised she should. I sent Bee off on her return from the Lido & I went off with Baker to the Sailor’s Inst: service. Dr v. Someren addressed the people– When Bee returned she told me Mrs Craigie had invited her to accompany her on a tour to America starting early next month. I urged her to accept.
