21 October 1905 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 21st [October 1905]. I went out at 10 in gondola to the Calcina to meet Arbib & to see the alternations he had made there to arrange the house as a pension. It is very well done & will be, I think, a success. Miss Williams came to lunch & I showed her the pictures. She is specially a copyist of Velasquez & knows Spain well. It was a damp rainy afternoon so I only went out for an hour in the Piazza. Iduna Bel: came to tea. The same party as last night to hear Sigina Olpes play & Mr Somers Cocks brought his ’cello & delighted us with his playing. Carry Eden also came to hear them.
