16 April 1906 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 16th [April 1906]. I went off to the hospital in the afternoon to enquire why Sister B. did not go off this morning but sent a message to say she was not starting till tomorrow. I found she was only so nervous she could not get ready—so I told her to finish packing & I would take her to my house to sleep there & sent her off tomorrow. I left her to prepare & in the meanwhile I went to the Eden garden. Carrie was not there so I helped Mr E. to entertain a Miss Perceival & Lady Mabel Gore Langton who were there for tea. Presently Sister Roland ran in to beg me to come & fetch away Sister B. at once for she was so queer they did not know what to do. I therefore sternly ordered her to leave everything & come with me & so I carried her off home & ordered her to bed under Baker’s charge. Then hurried off to attend the vestry meeting at our church– There were but few people. Mr Montalba was reelected church warden & Mr Merrick (US) elected parsons warden. I walked home for a little exercise.
