25 April 1906 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 25th [April 1906]. I had a busy morning over the Hospital accounts for the past year. Mr de Zuccato came bringing me an invitation to the ceremony of opening the Milan Exn on Saturday. I tried to cry off but I saw he was much disappointed so promised to try & go. After lunch I went off to the hospital to confabulate with Sister Chaffey. Before starting I had a visit from Carry Eden who brought a Bss Treves to introduce to me– A Jewess whose husband has a fine house next Hotel Britannia. From hospital I went to call on Css Belmondo Caccia to see the appartment in Palazzo Boldu she had lately moved in to. It is most beautifully decorated with Venetian low relief stucco—& the centre sala is very fine. Dined at 7 & with me Mr P. Armytage & 2 Misses Longman & we went on to the concert at the sailors Inst. It was a great success & there was a great deal of “talent”—a large attendance—over 103. The Longmans did not stay late—but one of the girls sang very prettily. The Hulton family came then & the Raggs & Mrs Appleton. Got home about 11–
