11 May 1906 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 11th [May 1906]. Lady Stewart having called on my yesterday I offered to take her out this afternoon to see the Hospital & the Eden’s garden– Thence I took her to the Curtis to have tea. Afterwards when taking her to the Piazza she suddenly made an appeal to me in favor of her sister who married Rhuvon Guest—saying how good & delightful she is. I told her I knew her but living so much abroad had few occasions of seeing her. I did not care to enter into all the pros & cons & explain that I do not care to go to a house where I must be prepared to meet R’s mother, who had done so much mischief to my family & behaved so badly to my dear brother Arthur. Came home early in order to send the gondola to the station to meet Count von Seckendorff & his cousin Princess Thurn & Taxis who arrived to pay me a visit.
