4 July 1906 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 4th [July 1906]. At 10 Mme Malagola came here so we went off together in gondola to the French nun’s house to call for Teresa the niece & thence took her over to the Cos: Hos: There we found a very smart looking woman in the hall whom I recognised as Giovanna the wife of Lady Radnor’s gondolier who had been a long time in hospital & had had a dangerous operation performed by Dr Giordano. She was recovered & was leaving. She was most grateful & delighted. All women on the Fondamenta had come out to see her depart! Leaving Teresina in Sister Chaffey’s care we returned home. After tea I went out again & paid the old General de Horsey a visit. He was sad—his forehead bound up for a slight swelling. After dinner I fetched Carry Eden & took her out for a row. Lovely night. Angela Reinelt left Venice.
