13 November 1906 — Stupinigi Palace, Turin
Tuesday. 13th [November 1906]. Chain work after lunch. Marchesa Trotti arrived to stay. I had known her many years ago in the days when Morelli was a mutual friend. The Queen hearing that I had brought home & had set some Ceylon stones—asked to see those I have with me & was so delighted that she begged to be allowed to buy some– I had meant them for my sale in London but naturally am very pleased to realise at once so I made a list of prices & consigned to H.M. those she wanted. It was a foggy day & we never went out at all.
