13 May 1907 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 13th [May 1907]. General breakfast at 10 o’cl in order to allow the travellers a good rest. After lunch Edward & I went out in gondola to pay a visit at Hotel Victoria to Baroness Reinelt & then to search for his friends at hotels– We returned home to tea & afterwards set out again in gondola for Lido, I with Ct Seckendorff & Nora in my gondola & Edward took Pss Taxis & Gweneth in his wh he has hired during his stay here. We landed at S. Niccolo on Lido & walked to S. Elisabetta where our gondolas met us & took us home– Connie & Blanche had gone out for a walk. After dinner there was whist & the rest of us retired early to bed. Heat continues. The town is quieting down—the gimnasts are going away. This morning I accompanied Netty to the station at 9 & saw her off for the lakes. I then paid a little visit to the Royons at the Sailor’s Inst: & found them much more settled. They seem nice people.
