15 May 1907 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 15th [May 1907]. I had a long morning out round the antiquary shops with Edward & Blanche & we found that there was little good to be found not like in old days when one was sorely tempted to spend money– After lunch Blanche went out with Connie to call on Lady Radnor & I took out Edward & Nora Hallé for a row. We came back to tea & were sitting talking when the 2 Sarabji sisters appeared—having arrived at the Alberoni at 12 & spent all the day clearing their luggage & getting to me. They looked charming with their dusky complexions and brilliantly coloured costumes. The eldest Cornelia is very pretty & very clever having taken her degree at Oxford. We had met last at Rangoon! We dined at 7.30 & had trios in the evening. Lady Radnor, Dss Canevaro, Malagolas & Arbibs came. Crepax played violin cello solo brilliantly & for a lad of 17 he is very clever. Ersilia Canevaro begged me to go & see her sister Maria tomorrow saying she was in a very bad state of depression.
