4 June 1907 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 4th [June 1907]. A quiet morning doing accounts & writing letters. At 4 went out to see Ersilia who seemed more calm but was receiving visits again! It is strange how she talked of Maria’s end. Once she said “ma soeur a fait ce qu’elle a fait”—& another time “Ce n’est pas un crime qu’elle a fait”– It makes one shudder to hear it. I went to see Lady Radnor—found her at home & had tea there. Went to see the amended drawing of the Bessborough mosaic & returned home to go out again with Angela Reinelt to the public gardens where we sat for a while. We got back after 7.30 & I found Mr & Mrs Curtis whom I had invited to dine at that hour, already arrived—so I dressed for the evening after dinner– A few friends came in the evening amongst them the Tyler ladies & a couple who were brought by Mme Malagola to make my acquaintance– A barge full of “giovane operaie” came to serenade us– They sang prettily & seemed very happy.
