4 September 1907 — Abano
Wednesday. 4th September [1907]. I continue to get on pleasantly with my little English friend at meals. Took a long walk with Baker in afternoon. The weather is bright & fine again after another storm. We went round by Montirone to the S. Daniele spring under Rua & back to the H. Orologio in an hour. Met Signora Gallina who is the widow of the writer & dramatist who sits opposite to me at table & we stopped & spoke. She said she had known who I was by my portrait she had seen at our old friend Malcolm’s in former days & paid me all kinds of compliments. She told us one day at table that she had once been an actress herself & had long since given up the stage.
