7 January 1908 — 3 Savile Row
Tuesday. 7th [January 1908]. Not up very early. Miss Darling came & began to arrange Henry’s correspondence for me wh had got into disorder. Charlie Wyld came to lunch. Connie came directly after & sat with me all the afternoon & we worked both at bead work. Mrs Whitaker came to see me—& then later Nora Hallé & she & Connie went off together at 6.30. Charlie dined with me & took me to the theatre to see Brewster’s Millions—an amusing piece– Well acted by but badly supported the women being all insufferable– Warm weather & heavy showers. Connie opened her heart today about losing her son Eddie from home. He always having been her pet boy—the joy of her life—& the pang of having to give him up to a wife—much as she likes her & approves of the marriage. He has all his life been devoted to his mother. I was very sorry for her when she sobbed bitterly—& could only sympathise & soothe.
