14 January 1908 — 3 Savile Row
Tuesday. 14th [January 1908]. Did not get up till lunch time as I woke with a headache. Charlie Wyld brought in Sir John Cragg to lunch a city friend with whom he is going on a trip to Marseille on Friday next on business. He is very rich & a selfmade man—pleasant & cheery with rolling blue eyes & not many h’s in his vocabulary. After he left I had to retire to my bedroom sofa & slept in the dark—& crawled into bed again at 8 when the Wylds, Kate & Reggie & Gus Alderson went to dinner. Charlie sat with me a little in the evening when I was recovering.
