16 February 1908 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset
Sunday. 16th [February 1908]. Canford Manor. Breakfast at 9.30– Ivor not present. Went to church at 11 with Cornelia, Miss Green & Henry Guest. Stayed to communion & on coming home found Ivor walking with Cornelia on the terrace. He & she lunched together & afterwards Henry, Dr, Miss Green & Miss Anderson. I took a walk with Cornelia from 3 to 4. Ivor came down to tea at 5.30. He was very confused over tea but recovered himself afterwards & sat a little by me talking abt Venice &c & Miss Green was playing the piano he hummed & sang & walked up & down the hall till 6 when he went upstairs with Cornelia. I went to the 6.30 service & the Dr also went. The dear old church is so good to be in & it is so homelike to be there altho’ there are very few of the old faces I knew in it now. I recognised Meaby the Miller’s son who is in the estate agency—& “Sam” the carpenter. It seemed strange to go to church without Ivor who used never to be absent—& now his place has long been empty. Home in time to dress for dinner. Ivor dines in his room & is no more seen– Sat with Cornelia in the library till 10.30 when to bed. Henry Guest left in the afternoon.
