17 February 1908 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset
Monday. 17th [February 1908]. Breakfast at 9.30 with Cornelia & Dr Johnstone. Sat writing in Ivor’s study all morning. Ivor appeared very shaky today. It was wet in early part of the morning; abt 12 it cleared & he & Cornelia walked round the terrace till lunch. At 3 Cornelia & I went for a drive in the motor car to Poole where she showed me the new hospital for wh Ivor had given the site & a sum of money to the Corporation of Poole. We drove home via the Canford Cliffs & Bournemouth. Tea in the Hall at 4.30. Ivor was there but very incoherent & confused. He & I walked up & down the Hall for a little while while Miss Green played the piano & we sang & hummed the tunes. At 6 he retired & we sat in the study till dinner & afterwards played patience. Dr Johnstone & Miss Anderson went in the evening to a meeting of Kensit at Wimborne to denounce High Church practices wh are getting everywhere rampant.
