3 June 1908 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 3rd [June 1908]. Still very hot—modelled, typed &c. At 4 went out with Aline & Prof: Malagola who came to accompany us. I went to call on Angela R. the other two went to see the spiral stairs near Piazza Manin. Then I went to the Frari to Sra Malagola’s tea party where I found a good many people assembled in the garden. The Brandolins brought me home in their gondola mine having been lent to Aline to continue her promenade with Malagola. He came & dined with us & escorted me to the concert given at the Fenice Sala in wh the young Miss Olpes showed her dexterity. I had not heard her for 2 years during which time she has studied in Vienna. She plays with immense agility & has a good memory. She was much applauded. Sr Principe played the violin well but feebly. Sr Montecchi played the cello with lovely light touch & much agility. His daughter of 16 accompanied him very nicely. Home before 11—getting out of the gondola I fell right down on the top step but without hurting myself.
