9 June 1908 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 9th [June 1908]. Felt unwell on waking—but got up as usual. Could not get to work but sat in the studio. Mr Royon came & brought me a letter he has written to the Admiralty about his drills wh he ought to return to England to do. I promise to see it delivered when I go to London. Mme Wiel came to see if Ola wd go out with her but she had already set out. Trombini came to arrange about the post cards he is making of Hospital views. By that time I was feeling quite ill & the luncheon bell rang so I sent the girls down & rushed to my room flung myself dressed into bed– Got 2 hot water bottles & 2 blankets & there lay in the dark till 4 when I got warm & was better. I went downstairs to tea with the girls & then we went out for a long row—up the Canal, by the Fonda Nuova—the Giudecca & round by San Trovaso home. It was lovely evening. At 10 Sir Edwin & Lady Egerton & Mr Whitaker arrived from Rome– We had tea & then went to bed.
