13 June 1908 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 13th [June 1908]. St Antonio Saturday. Olga took Aline & Ola out at 8.30 to see the procession from St Marks to the Salute at 8.30 p.m. Mr Whitaker ordered a motor launch at 11 o’cl for an expedition to the Islands—but he went to the Lido to bathe & got back an hour late. Olga & he & Aline started at last & picked up the Erskines & took them. I had a busy morning sorting beads to take away with me. Ola & I lunched at home with Sir Edwin. After tea he & I walked to the Piazza where Ola joined us in gondola– Sir Edwin walked on the Public Gardens & Ola & I proceeded thither in the gondola & we took a turn & then returned in gondola bringing Sir Edwin with us. The party who had gone out in the launch came home after us. Ola dined with the Wiels. It was so lovely a night that Aline was tempted to go out in gondola after dinner so she & Mr Whitaker went & the Egertons & I remained at home & played patience till bed time.
