14 June 1908 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 14th [June 1908]. The 2 girls went to church with me & Sir Edwin joined us on foot. I went from there to Hotel Victoria & paid Angela Reinelt a visit. Mr Brown came to luncheon. Having him a moment alone I said to him how glad I was that he had rejoined the Committee of the Sailor’s Inst (he had left it 3 or 4 years ago on my account he said when he was huffed). He said he was himself glad to have done so as it proved that there was no longer any ill feeling between us. I said I never forgot what friends he & Henry had been & thereon we shook hands cordially– I am glad as I hated to feel he thought he had a grudge against me. We had tea at 4.30 to wh Mme Wiel came & the Erskines & then we went out to the Eden’s garden & I paid a visit to the hospital.
