5 July 1908 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset
Sunday. 5th [July 1908]. I & Cornelia went to morning service—& we sat in the tent in the afternoon– Cornelia walked with Ivor. Lovely day—my thoughts were all day carried back to this day 14 years. I picked a bunch of white roses & laid them on his tomb. It is the first time I have been near it on this anniversary. I am glad to be here. I went to the evening service & thought how in former days Ivor never missed attending it. The Freddie Guests & her mother & father Mr & Mrs Phipps came over to dine from Yarrells. Corise brought over Mr & Mrs Chapman who are staying with her at the collage so we were a large party at dinner & walked on the terrace in the evening. I found it very chilly & was glad to come in. I found it very hard work to have to be nice to anyone of the name of Chapman—& these are nephew & niece of the woman who brought so much sorrow into the family–
