22 September 1908 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 22nd [September 1908]. Mrs Royon came to see me & I asked her why her husband wants to give up the management of the sailor’s Institute & suggested she & her girl shd go to England on a holiday instead wh she seems enclined to do. Bianca Arbib came also in the morning & I had little time for work. I did not see the Adys till lunch. They had had the Farrers to lunch yesterday & had taken them to the Lido. At 3 old Genl de Horsey came to call & we all went out. The Adys went to the Montalbas to tea. I went with the Genl in his gondola to the Hospital for a short time & then the Genl left me at the Montalbas where I rejoined the Adys & met Col. & Mrs Gough. He is a good water colourist & was a friend of Mrs Higford Burrs. Met also Ct & Css Lautaum pleasant Germans who have settled in Venice. Young Mr Farrer dined with us & a few people came in the evening. Sir Seymour & Lady Blane, Valentine Css Robilant & her mother Olga Mocenigo & her aunt Pss Alini Windischgrätz, Mr Montalba & Revd Goodenough & Mr James the music critic. They stayed rather late & I was rather tired.
