28 September 1908 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 28th [September 1908]. The Adys went & Baker saw them off & I hoped to have a rest this morning—but at 9.30 Messrs Brown & Montalba came & I had to jump out of bed & hurry into a garment to go & receive them. They had been this morning to consult at the Sailor’s Institute over structural improvements & they came to talk it over with me. We agreed to have a Committee meeting very soon– I retired to my bed again but at 11 was called up again to see Sig Margolis & I got up again & gave him a cheque for £120 for the Venice Murano Co as desired by Sir John Craggs. Then I took my bath & dressed & at 1 had lunch with Canon Ragg. At 3 we went out in gondola to the Hospital & Miss Chaffey gave us tea in the garden. A nice patient an engineer from a ship was lying out in the garden. I had a little talk with him & also visited an American lady in one of the private rooms, & then we rowed home by soon after 5. It was a lovely day & quite hot. Mr Woods RA came to see me also to talk over the Sailor’s Institute, he being one of the Committee. Olga Mocenigo & her sister Adini came & also 2 of the Montalba sisters.
