14 November 1908 — San Antonio Palace, Malta
Saturday. 14th [November 1908]. We drove in the morning to see the Naval Hospital & found there everything in perfect order. We went into the Chapel of & went out no more in the afternoon. We dined at 8 & went off to Valletta to an entertainment got up at the Gymnasium inside of the Soldiers & Sailors Home. It was very amusing & there was some clever comic singing & some well got up tableaux vivant. A young lady sang a verse of “Auld Rolin Grey” & then the curtain rose & the scene was shown & so on. The army chaplain Revd J. Blackbourne sang & played well. A Mrs Marjory Thring played charming a violin solo & looked very simple & attractive. The entertainment went without a hitch & was a great success.
