15 March 1909 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 15th [March 1909]. I went to San Daniele in the morning taking Sa Pezzè with me. Ola remained in bed all day to rest from the fatigue of the journey. I went over to the Hosp. to visit Mr Eram who was still weak but talked abt his family at Constantinople & how his grandfather had been chosen, as being so honest, by Sultan Mohammed be keeper of the crown jewels. We talked about Turkish dishes & he told me how to make pilaf & also curds &c & I said I would see if we could make him some. But poor man his nerves broke down every now & then & he would burst out crying. | |
