18 April 1909 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 18th [April 1909]. After morning service I went to Hotel Victoria to see Bss Reinelt & found her much upset at having just heard of the death of her son– He had long been paralyzed & had led a very bad life, but tho’ she was not attached to him it was a shock. Her children had been seized with a greed for money when they saw their mother so rich & are horrid to her, poor woman. Canon Ragg & Hallam & I dined early & went to the service at the Sailor’s Institute.
