30 May 1909 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 30th May [1909]. Violet left & returned to London by the morng train. The rest of us went to morning service– Canon Raggs’ last Sunday here as he has given up the chaplaincy to every one’s great regret. His wife has already gone & he has been staying with Mrs Curtis but I know she doesn’t want any visitors now her son & his wife Mr & Mrs Ralph Curtis are with her so I invited him to come to stay here & we went to the service at the Sailor’s Institute together. There is news today that old Mrs Brown is dying of a stroke to the despair of her son Horatio.
