6 August 1909 — Mt. Congreve, Waterford, County Waterford
Friday. 6th [August 1909]. Bessborough arrived from London by the night service & was here to breakfast. It was a warm day & we sat out in the morning on the terrace in front of the house. Irène has made house & garden very pretty—having her mother’s good taste. After lunch Blanche, Irène, Miss Congreve & I drove in to Waterford in the motor in quest of old furniture but found nothing. It is a dull little town tho’ it has some connection with the world in the different lines of steamers wh anchor along the quay on the river.
