7 August 1909 — Mt. Congreve, Waterford, County Waterford
Saturday. 7th [August 1909]. I walked with Jack up the park in the morng to help him to find water springs higher up on the hill than he now has it so as to get the water up to the top of the house. My divining rod soon showed us the spot. Edward & Jack went off to Bessborough in the morning. Blanche & I were to have followed in the motor car—when a message came to say that the repairs it had been sent to Waterford to have done wd not be completed & the mules were brought over in the little waggonette to take us over. We were sad at leaving Irène—& she depressed to see us go. Jack was gone to play in a cricket match & returns this eveng. The match was still going on when we got to Bessborough. I was installed in the “Canford” room with the old oak bedstead wh Luff bought at Marwood Yeatmans house in Dorset for Ivor. As Cornelia did not like the old bed it was turned out & Ivor gave it to Blanche with the oak wardrobe wh is made out of the old pulpit of Wimborne Minister. Luff also bought it when it was torn out during the restoration of the Minister & had it converted into a wardrobe.
