5 November 1909 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 5th [November 1909]. Went out walking with Olga—on starting we called at the Whitakers & arranged that the Egertons should go to lunch there at 1. Their gondola put us across the canal & we walked to the Piazza & did some shopping coming back for lunch. Nela was in bed with cold & Hallam not very well– I have also a cold, the sudden change to cold weather affects us all. When Olga returned after luncheon we went out together in gondola & called on old Genl de Horsey to bid him goodbye as he leaves tomorrow for Hyères. We returned home for tea. The Leutrums came & Olga Mocenigo Windischgrätz. In the evening Com: Malagola & his wife came for an hour. They have been much away superintending their son during his exam at Padua. He is a weak youth & were it not for the splendid spirit of his mother would do little.
