11 January 1910 — Bessborough, Fiddown, County Kilkenny
Tuesday. 11th [January 1910]. I left Bessborough by the 11 o’cl train leaving the country sprinkled with snow. There was a heavy snow shower at 8 a.m. but the sun shone directly after. The crossing was bad but I had a comfortable cabin & slept nearly the whole way very comfortably. The wise stewardess said that every one else had been sick. We got to Fishguard in a snow storm & large flakes fell & the country was white nearly as far as Newport. Dined in the train & reached London very punctually at 9.30 p.m.– I was in bed at 10—tired, glad of a cup of tea & to sleep. Found 2 Italian men servants arrived from Venice.
