30 January 1910 — 3 Savile Row
Sunday. 30th [January 1910]. I went out before 10 to go to the service at the Chapel R of Marlborough House– I was rather late—but enjoyed the quiet—as it is very little frequented– The little boys of the choir wear their pretty red coats laced with gold—& white bands from their necks. The singing is good & simple. I got home before 11 & sat quiet till Kate returned from St James & Edward (Bessboro’) also came & paid me a visit. Walked with Kate in afternoon to Cav. Sqr to try & see Blanche who was not in. Mr Longman (publisher) called on me & was pleased to meet Lady Gregory. He is very pleasant & likes a joke. Said that he is very deaf & obliged to use a trumpet. Mr James came to tea & was kind eno’ to play to me my favorite “Barricades Misterieuses” by Couperin– It is a lovely thing.
