16 April 1910 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 16th [April 1910]. Lady Vivian & Alexandra went out in the morning so I had the morning to write letters. I heard that Daisy has been moved to London from Ballards for an operation to her arm so she must be a little less ill than we feared. After lunch Mr Price called on parish business. Went out at 3.30 with Vivians in gondola to Piazza & to Missiaglia’s shop for them to look at pearl necklaces—the girl wants to buy one. To tea at Mrs Whitaker’s then home. Alexa went to dine with Whitakers who took her to the Opera “G. Tell”– Dow Dss of Roxburghe & Mr Greaves dined with Lady V. & I. Louise Vivian had brought home from Boni the jeweller various pearl necklaces for approvations & there was a great discussion on their different values—& not much interesting talk. The Duchess is gentle & pleasant but not clever.
