19 April 1910 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 19th [April 1910]. After Mrs Langenbach & the Vivians had gone out in the morning sight seeing I walked off to the H. Victoria to see Angela & sat with her about half an hour & then hurried home. Mr Price called to tell me that the tiresome wine shop man at the Institute could not be got out of his shop so I said I would speak to the Prefect about it as he was coming to dine with me tonight. In the afternoon we all 4 of us went to tea with Countess Papadopoli in her garden opposite the station where roller skating went on on the asphalt tennis court. We stayed about an hour & then I brought Mr Langenbach back in the gondola & the Vivians followed in theirs. The Duchess of Roxburghe & Mrs Greaves came to bid us goodbye at 3 oclock as they leave town tomorrow. The Prefect & Sr Malagola came to dinner & a good many people in the evening—mostly English people introduced by friends—amongst them Lady Donegall, Lady Mary Cook,—the latter a funny little old lady in a spanish mantilla. I spoke to the Prefect about Pivetta & he said he would have him turned out of the Institute at once & would withdraw his license.
