12 May 1910 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 12th [May 1910]. Ola & I had a turn at the hospital accounts in the morning. I went to lunch with Angela Reinelt at 1 at her hotel Victoria. There was there her two guests Marquis & Mar del Pignone who are staying with her—also Baroness Gerlach sister of Css Albrizzi who has been a great beauty & has led a merry life. She is a widow. She still continues to dress very showily—but is not attractive. She lives with her sister & niece. The sisters are Austrian born & are alike on all points. The pal. Albrizzi is one of the finest in Venice & has still much of its old furniture. The name, I believe, dies out there being no male air. In the afternoon I took Princess Thurn & Taxis out in gondola & went to call on the Prices to talk over with Mr P. the sending of an address of sympathy to our new King George V. I heard from Mr Wyndham that the correct way is to send an address to our Ambassador at Rome on the subject. I took Mrs Price out with us in gondola & we went over to the Giudecca to the Hospital—for Mrs P. to consult the matron about her rheumatism. On our return left her at her house & then home. Pss Thurn & Taxis felt indisposed & went to bed. The young people of our party went out in the eveng in gondola. Ola & I went early to bed.
