11 June 1910 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 11th [June 1910]. Took a walk in afternoon alone. To Montalbas &c. Went in evening to a dance given by P. & Pss Giovanelli where was also the D. degli Abruzzi. Not many people there on account of the heat & also that Venetian society dislikes the Giovanelli’s because they live chiefly at Rome & they find every fault they can—this since there is general indignation because the invitation was “a casa” written on the Princess’ card—in English “at home” fashion an innovation wh gives great offence– However I found them very polite & kind. I remained but a short time being home by midnight.
