18 June 1910 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 18th [June 1910]. Mr Montalba came to do hospital accounts with me. Corrected proofs of journal. Went out to lunch with Angela at Hotel Victoria. She gave me 300 lire for my charities—very generous—back soon after 2. Marchese Cappelli & Mr Graham Vivien came to tea. The latter is a wonderful old man—over 83 he is well & active, travels about on the Continent alone & interests himself in “smart society” everywhere. He was a beau in London when I was a girl—rich & with a fine house in Belgrave Sqr. His family is from Glamorganshire & has always been friends with the Guest family. After tea out in gondola to Eden’s garden & hospital. The King left Venice this evening passing here abt 10. Rather pretty sight. This time he was in gondola escorted by two 12 oared boats with Bengal lights.
