18 September 1910 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 18th [September 1910]. Went all of us to morning service. Mr & Mrs Randall Morgan to luncheon– She is a niece of the Griscoms in U.S. & is a handsome young woman & both very pleasant. Later in the day they fetched the Adys & took them to Lido in a motor boat. I had a visit from Miss Grigsby & Mlle Dussau—who was Governess to Princess Mary & is now Secy to the Queen. She talked of K. Edward’s death & said she had been at Broadstairs with Princess Mary when the first alarm was felt but the shock was great & almost unexpected even to them. I went out when they had left, for a row; met Lady Radnor also taking the air & asked her to dine on Tuesday—then met the Prices & took them a little way in gondola & stopped then at their lodgings & home. Quiet evening.
