25 September 1910 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 25th [September 1910]. We all went to morning service at church. To tea with Mrs Curtis at Pal. Barbaro where met Mr Berenson the Art Critic & his wife. He is a very unattractive little man—a Hungarian by birth who is a mine of art knowledge & goes up & down the land altering the ideas hitherto received on the authors of different pictures. A pupil of our dear friend Morelli he exaggerates all his masters theories & methods & has not his modesty. However at this time he is great authority on such matters.
