2 October 1910 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 2nd October [1910]. All 3 to morning church. Lord & Lady Northcote & Lady Jersey to lunch– Very pleasant. Lord N. is a funny looking little man—his wife is pretty & agreeable & wore a pearl necklace that seemed priceless. They were all very appreciative of the pictures & went round the collection in great detail. Lady Jersey, a tall pale woman in ways reminded me somewhat of her aunt (my sister in law) Theo—clever, quick & witty. They commented largely on the bead necklaces I make for the benefit of the hospital to my delight. When they left I sent them back to their hotel in my gondola as they had not been able to hire one as there was a regatta going on. Mr A. went to the Lido with Mr Stainer. Nela & I went over to the hospital that she might get a mosquito bite medicated. Came home at 5 & had tea in my room. I went to the service at the Institute & got some dinner on my return. Nela & Mr A. went out in gondola in eveng
