9 October 1910 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 9th [October 1910]. I went to morning service with Eda & Nela, the Northcotes went sightseeing & joined us at luncheon. In the afternoon I took them in gondola to Pal. Giovanelli to see the famous picture by Giorgione wh belongs to Prince G. Then we went to Pal. Michiele belonging to the family of Donà della Rose. They keep the 1st floor of the palace as a museum & the public are freely admitted to see it. The Gobelins are fun & there are many interesting things in the house. Of late all the china, glass & personal effects of the Cardinal Barbarigo have been arranged by the family in cases. This palace belonged to 4 great Venetian families, Michiele, Barbarigo, Martinengo & now Donà & is the only one here still containing interesting family relics. We had a quiet evening & Lord N. showed us new games of patience.
