6 April 1911 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 6th [April 1911]. Up as usual this morning. The storm is over & the sun is out again. There has been snow at Milan & on the Lakes so we are lucky only to have had wind & rain. Angela Reinelt sent her “courtier” M. Gairinger of Trieste to see this house & pictures in the morning so I showed him round. He had come to do her business from Trieste & when I went later to see her she told me it had all been satisfactorily concluded. Cadet Philip Skinner came to lunch from H.M.S. Cumberland & brought 3 others with him—nice English lads. Hugh Whitaker called for them afterwards & took them out in his motor boat. Eda & I went out in gondola to Bss Reinelt & then to the station to meet Pss Stephanie & Count Lonyay who arrived by the train de luxe & we took them to the Grand Hotel where they are to lodge & then came home to tea. It was a lovely afternoon. After tea we walked to the Piazza & back in time for dinner.
