6 May 1911 — 3 Savile Row | |
Saturday. 6th [May 1911]. The weather is fine & it is not too cold so that the contrast with Venice is not too trying. I took a walk with Bessboro’ in the afternoon—drove down to the Albert Memorial & thence walked home thro’ the Park which was full of people waiting to see the K & Queen return from Windsor where they had been to the Memorial service for K. Edward this being the 1st anniversary of his death. We looked at the new monument to Q. Victoria opposite Buckingham Palace which is to be inaugurated this month & seems a fine thing but the contrast of colour the stone being quite white still, with the dingy coloured Palace close by is rather trying. We walked thro’ Green Park to Marlboro’ Hse & wrote our names on the Queen A. & then home. Edward left me there. Myles & Rita came to tea. Quiet evening with Eda & Nela—patience—& bead work. | |
