23 May 1911 — 3 Savile Row
Tuesday. 23rd [May 1911]. Had a luncheon party– Sir Arthur Fanshawe, Mlle Dussau, Blanche, Mr Arbuthnot, Hugh Whitaker, the Wylds & Nela. I had asked Lord Kitchener who could not come. It was a pleasant little meeting which I should have enjoyed better if I had not had a headache– I had known Sir Arthur first in India. He is always pleasant & interesting. After tea I went for a moment to Blanche’s to make the acquaintance of Pss Patricia of Connaught who was having tea with Gweneth & whom I had never seen altho’ I had been with her parents at Malta. She is a lovely girl, tall & striking with fine dark eyes. I dined with Blanche Lady Lindsay—quite a small party & sat between Mr Coleridge & Lord Morris (as was he had now another title). There were also Lord & Lady Raey. He looking very old—she marvellously young. Mrs Leeky came in after dinner—pleasant & friendly as ever. Mr Coleridge was very agreeable talked of his visit to America, his poetry & his painting & says he exhibits the latter in Manchester & such towns & sells well.
