24 May 1911 — 3 Savile Row
Wednesday. [24th May 1911]. Had my 2nd light bath & think they are doing me good– Lady Albemarle came in to tea—& to my shame I had forgotten her & she had to tell me her name! Why do I forget faces so? Later came Sir Chauncy Cartwright & I left him talking with Nela & Mr Prebite came to carry me & the Wyld off to dine at Ranelagh in his motor car. I had never seen this club before & am delighted with its beautiful gardens kept as only is to be seen in this country. We walked round the grounds before dining in the house which was originally occupied by the Kit cat Club & has been enlarged & added to in the right style. There were not many people dining there but it is said that on Saturdays & Sundays the place is crammed. After dinner we sat out on the terrace & listened to the music of an Hungarian band & a lady sang at intervals. Got home soon after 10.
