14 July 1911 — 3 Savile Row
Friday. 14th [July 1911]. Irene Congreve in town for a visit to her parents came to lunch with me today & accompanied me to the school in Burlington Gardens close by at 3.30 when I gave away the prizes at the desire of the Rector of St James Piccadilly Canon McCormick who however, was too ill to be present. This took about 1 hour & it being my first attempt at such a thing I got thro’ pretty well. Afterwards I called for Charlie Wyld at Fortnum’s & we drove down to Templeton Roehampton to a tea party given by Cornelia who lives there when she is not at Canford taking care of poor Ivor. After spending a little while we drove on across Richmond Park to Petersham & dined at Douglas House with Mr G. Biddulph—& then drove back to London in the cool of the evening.
