15 July 1911 — 3 Savile Row
Saturday. 15th [July 1911]. I drove Mrs Curtis, who is staying at an hotel in Cork St down to Osterley where Lady Jersey was giving a party. It is a lovely place & so near London as to be easy to get at. There I saw for the first time an aeroplane flying across the sky above us. It was a most interesting sight—but what uses will it be put to? Is it worth the constant loss of human life which it now entails?
