10 October 1911 — Mezzaratta, Bologna | |
Tuesday. 10th October [1911]. We left Bologna by 10.25 train for Venice. As Da Laura was still in bed when we left she allowed us to go to bid her goodbye in her room. She looked lovely & picturesque as she lay in bed with a soft wool shawl round her head. We were delayed on our journey by having to have a carriage taken off at Ferrara as something went wrong with it. Lady Winifred Gore arrived by the train de luxe at 5. Mme Wiel Mrs Portman & Lord de Vesci came to tea also. Had my reception in the eveng & some 10 people came. | |
