3 November 1911 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 3rd November [1911]. This morning Sir Edwin Egerton left us for Pisa whence he will go to Cannes to meet his wife. We all went to the foundry of Sr Munaretti to see the Angel which he had made to go on the top of the Campanile. It is a fine figure– The feet & base are original as also parts of the arm & the lily in her hands. It is where it was cool, in a tiny house behind the Zattere at the end of Calle Caselotti. There is a certain sort of satisfaction in being able to say one had touched the arms of a figure wh will be so many feet above the town. From there we went to tea with Mrs Curtis whose fine apartment in Pal. Barbaro is worth seeing. Marchese Folco Farniola arrived from Florence to escort Da Laura home to Rome.
