14 January 1912 — Luxor | |
Sunday. 14th [January 1912]. To service in the little chapel in the grounds of the hotel in the morning & then went for a walk with Mr Whymper. In the afternoon we took a boat & went over the river to the dahabeeyah of Mr Theodore Davis to call on Mrs Andrews whom we found in & with her her niece Miss Buttles– They gave us tea & begged us to remain on a while as they expected Mr Davis back from his house in the desert where he is now digging in hopes of finding further antiquities. After a bit he arrived & we stayed on talking to him. He invited us to go to his house in the desert one day to lunch wh we gladly accepted. They sent us back to Luxor in his boat. | |
