28 January 1912 — Luxor | |
Sunday. 28th [January 1912]. Went to morning service & afterwards we took a turn on the esplanade & made the acquaintance of a Mrs Borden, wife of B. Pasha head of the Post Office at Cairo. She knew the Wylds & is niece of their neighbour Mrs Goodlake. It was one of the rare cloudy heavy days one gets in this country which affect one & are very uncomfortable. Afternoon I had people to tea in the garden, Mrs Andrews & “the gurls” (Misses Buttles), Mr Whymper, Mme Legrain, Marquesa Guadalmina– The weather cleared in the evening & I felt better. | |
